5 Hair Colour Trends To Try before 2020

Only 4 months left! This is your final call to try out some of the hair colour trends in 2019, if you haven’t already. Here are our top 5 pick on hair colour trends for the year 2019.

Balayage

Yes, yes we all know Balayage is an overused term when it comes to hair colour, but hey, people still love the look! The versatility of Balayage when it comes to hues is partially why it’s so popular. You could go natural with a brown based Balayage or grab the spotlight with more colourful interpretations.

Ombre

Very similar to the Balayage, Ombre is also an incumbent that has been popular for years. They both look very similar too, but with some key differences. The transition from deeper roots and light ends is much shorter than in Balayage. Unlike the Balayage, all the ends [hair] will be affected.

Faded Pastel

Yes, pastel is still standing strong, with celebrities like Khloe Kardashian with her pale-pink hue in the picture. Unlike the traditional pastel, faded pastel is even lighter in hue, and the subtlety gives a magical and fairy like aura.

This is one of the most challenging colours to achieve, with failure resulting in damaged hair or yellowish hair colour. To maintain is even more challenging as the colour fades extremely quickly. Don’t be discouraged though. After all, doesn’t this make it even more unique and valuable?

Fun fact: Add IRIS Platinum Shampoo to any other Colour Shampoo to pastelize it. For example, adding it to IRIS Candy Pink (vibrant pink-red hue) will result in the type of pink Khloe has above.

Blackberry

If you’re not a fan of pastel and light shades, try out this hair colour. This is essentially purple with a slight addition of blue.

It is perfect if you have dark hair and want a little colour. Nevertheless, as explained by colourist Rachel Bodt, you still have to go lighter to achieve this hue. “When you are doing the dark purples, even though they are dark tones, [the hair] still needs to be lifted light enough so you can see the purple,” she tells Allure. This is because the addition of blue tones on yellow hair results in green.

The maintenance is much easier than faded pastel though. Simply use IRIS Violet Blue Shampoo and IRIS Violet Blue Colour Mask.

Your Favourite Caffeinated Drink

Iced Caramel Latte, Milk Tea (Did you know?: A few hues of IRIS Permanent Hair Colour is named after milk tea too), Ash Brown, or whatever you call it, this shade is perfect for people who want to be fashionable without the more exaggerated feel that’s associated with fashion shades.

Imagine brown without the typical warm feel (red hue). The coolness adds a layer of style whilst the brown hue retains a sense of classic and natural vibe.
